e-Learning may be used when an emergency would otherwise close school or when a designated make-up day is needed. You’ll be notified through district and school communication channels as soon as a decision is made.

• Teacher availability: Teachers will list designated times they are available to provide support to students and families during the regular school.

• Time expectations:

  • K–8: 5.5 hours of learning time

  • 9–12: 6.0 hours of learning time

  • At least 200 minutes should be direct learning (watching/reading/listening to instruction). The remaining time is for practice and completing work.

• Attendance: Schools record attendance on e- Learning days based on participation and work completion. If your child has access or technology issues, please contact the school so we can help and document appropriately.

2. Open your class platform: designated by your teacher. Assignments are typically placed in Google Classroom for ease of access.
3. Check teacher updates: Look for the day’s schedule, assignment list, and how to get help. If you don’t see new instructions by the start of the school day, email the teacher or contact the school.

• FCSD maintains a device distribution plan for e-Learning days. If your child does not have a device at home, contact your child’s teacher, or a school level admin. Someone will communicate options to access the required materials when an e-Learning day is announced.
• If internet access is limited, contact your school for options (offline materials, phone support, or alternate submission methods).
• Basic troubleshooting: Restart the device, confirm Wi-Fi, and log in through ClassLink before opening other apps.

• Students receiving special services will continue to receive appropriate supports to the extent possible during e-Learning.

• Teachers will provide instruction through online meetings and/or posted videos. Packets/choice boards may supplement for age-appropriateness or accommodations, but they do not replace the virtual instruction provided by the teacher.

• For questions about services, contact your school’s case manager or administrator.

• Pre-K teachers will share short, developmentally appropriate learning experiences (brief videos, read-alouds, songs, and simple hands-on activities).
• Choice boards or activity packets may be used to support these experiences for our youngest students. Reach out to your child’s teacher with any access concerns.

• District updates: District updates will be placed on the home page of the district’s website, on all school site homepages, and via ParentSquare.
• School updates: School level reminders will be sent via Parent Square.
