Dr. Chan Anderson currently serves as the Superintendent for Chesterfield County School District. Prior to becoming Superintendent in 2022, he served as Assistant Superintendent for six years in Chesterfield. Over Dr. Anderson’s 30 year professional career, he has also worked as a principal, assistant principal, head basketball coach and classroom teacher in Florence One School District and Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) School District. Dr. Anderson earned his Ed.D. and Ed.S. from Wingate University, his M.S. from Nova Southeastern University and his B.S. from Claflin University.
Dr. Marty Conner, Sr. currently serves as Senior Executive Director of School Administration for Rock Hill School District Three. He has served as Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability, Executive Director of Schools, Executive Director of Alternative Learning, Principal, Assistant Principal, and classroom teacher and coach. He has worked in Fort Mill School District, Orangeburg County Consolidated School District Three, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (NC), Hampton City Schools (VA), and Suffolk Public Schools (VA). Dr. Conner earned his Ed.D. and Ed.S. from South Carolina State University, his M.A. from The George Washington University, and B.S. from Norfolk State University.
Mr. Alvin Pressley currently serves as Superintendent for the School District of Newberry County. Prior to this he served as Director of Secondary Education in Lexington Richland School District 5, Executive Director of High Schools in Aiken County, Principal, Assistant Principal and a classroom teacher. Dr. Pressley earned his Ed.S., M.Ed. and B.S. from the University of South Carolina. He will complete his Ed.D. from the University of South Carolina in December 2027.
The board made its selection of the three finalists after a thorough review of all applicants and interviews with semi-finalists on June 2 - 4, 2025. The finalists will be in the district June 9 - 11, 2025 for their final interviews. “The board is pleased to present three highly qualified candidates for this crucial leadership position,” said Board Chair Henry Miller. “The board looks forward to the next phase in the search process.”
