A Prospective Employee

Welcome to Fairfield County School District!

We are excited that you are considering joining our team

Certified Employment (Teachers, Administrators, Other Professional Staff):

The superintendent makes all certified staff recommendations for employment, and any person considered for permanent appointment as a principal must either have experience as a principal or been assessed for his/her leadership and management capabilities.  The district does not employ any candidate without a personal interview.  The board makes the final decision regarding employment of certified personnel.

Classified Employment (Paraprofessionals, Clerical, Other Support Services Staff):

The superintendent approves all classified hires. The district does not employ any candidate without a personal interview.

Substitute Employment (Paraprofessionals, Clerical, Other Support Staff):

A partnership exists with Kelly Educational Staffing for the services of substitutes.  Substitutes must receive a pre-employment orientation and satisfy the same requirements as district employed staff.

Summer Interns (High School Age or College Juniors or Seniors):

The district employs college students who are entering their junior or senior year.  Interns are hired to work at the district administrative offices and support the departments of Computer Technology, Human Resources, Public Information, Food Services, Finance, Maintenance, and Transportation.  The Coordinator of Maintenance has the flexibility to also hire high school students who attend the district career center and are recommended by the center director.  High school students must meet the employment guidelines established by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.  Internship assignments are scheduled for 4 or 8 weeks usually beginning the first week of June and concluding by Mid-August.
