Special Projects and Federal Programs
The Federal Programs Department in Fairfield County School District encompasses all of the programs of which federal funds are allocated to the district. Those programs include Title I, Title II, Title III, Title IV, Title V, Title I Direct Student Services, Title I Neglected and Delinquent - English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Funds are allocated to the district with the primary purpose of ensuring that every student gets a fair chance at optimum educational opportunities to perform at or above the expectations for his/her grade level.
Title I
Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 was designed to ensure that all children have a fair and equal opportunity to obtain a high quality education by providing research-based instruction in math, reading and writing. Additionally, it ensures that children are prepared to meet the rigorous challenge of meeting proficiency standards on the state's standardized assessments. Title I in Fairfield County School District serves five schools that have school-wide programs: Fairfield Elementary, Fairfield Magnet School for Math and Science, Geiger Elementary, Kelly Miller Elementary and McCrorey Liston School of Technology. The program benefits the schools by providing targeted faculty and staff positions, instructional supplies and materials, parental support, professional development, and researched "best practices" instructional programs.
Parents' Right to Know
You are encouraged to request information about the professional qualifications of both the teacher and paraprofessional working with your child. The Parents' Right to Know details include notification that your child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not certified. The school will put necessary supports in place to be sure that standards based instruction is continued.

Title II NCLB ensures that students receive instruction from a certified teacher and certified trained teacher assistant. Additionally, funding is allocated to reduce class sizes and to provide quality professional development for school personnel.
